Carina is a public health specialist with an interest in non-communicable diseases. She started at WHO in 2006 at the WHO Regional Office for Africa where she worked in the areas of substance abuse and mental health. In 2017, Carina joined the NCD Office as Programme Manager for Alcohol, Illicit Drugs and Prison Health supporting countries in the development of comprehensive national alcohol policies and the improvement of prison health systems. In addition, Carina is currently the acting Head of the WHO European Office for Prevention and Control of NCDs (NCD Office). In this position she is providing strategic and technical support countries in scaling up their efforts to better prevent and control noncommunicable diseases (NCD).
