
Peter Albers, MD, is Professor of Urology and Chairman of the Department of Urology, Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf, Germany since 2008. Since 2020, he is double appointed Division Head of the newly established Division “Personalized Early Detection of Prostate Cancer” at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in Heidelberg. From 2012 – 2016 he was board member of the German Cancer Society (DKG) and served as DKG president from 2016-2018. From 2018 to 2022, he was elected as Medical Director of the Center of Integrated Oncology Düsseldorf (CIO-D), Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University Hospital Düsseldorf. Since 2019 he is board member of the European Association of Urology (EAU) and leads the EAU Genitourinary Oncology Council. In 2026 he was elected board member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) International Affairs Committee. He is principal investigator of the German Prostate Cancer Screening Trial PROBASE (www.probase.de) and his special research interests are the development of new risk-adapted screening programs for prostate cancer.
