Marko’s journey in healthcare began at the University of Zagreb's School of Medicine, where he discovered a deep passion for public health and disease prevention. Inspired by the transformative impact of proactive health initiatives, he founded the 'mRAK' project within CroMSIC, a student-led NGO. Over four years, Marko led a vibrant team in collaborating with influential healthcare stakeholders to create and implement a pioneering HPV prevention strategy. Their tireless efforts resulted in over 1,200 workshops that educated more than 10,000 students, earning widespread recognition, including the Dean's Award from the University of Zagreb's School of Medicine for the academic year 2020/2021.
Motivated to bridge the gap between medicine and the pharmaceutical industry, Marko joined AstraZeneca Croatia's oncology division as an intern in 2023. This experience solidified his expertise in translating scientific knowledge into impactful healthcare solutions. In October 2023, he embarked on the prestigious AstraZeneca CEE-BA Leadership Trainee Program - intensive two-year program equips future leaders with the strategic and operational skills needed to drive innovation in the healthcare sector.
Recognizing the global importance of cancer prevention, Marko expanded his advocacy to the international stage. Since July 2023, he has served as Croatia’s HPV Consultant for the European Cancer Organisation. In this capacity, he works to tackle pressing HPV-related health challenges, contributing to the World Health Organization’s ambitious targets for cancer prevention caused by HPV.
Marko’s career reflects an unwavering commitment to advancing public health through impactful policy, innovative solutions, and collaborative leadership. He continues to draw inspiration from the mentorship and partnerships that have shaped his journey, with a clear vision of creating sustainable, positive change in healthcare systems worldwide.
