Igor Grabovac is a specialist in Public Health and associate professor at the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine, Centre for Public Health, Medical University of Vienna. He completed his medical education at the University of Zagreb and then continued with a residency at the University Clinic for Internal Medicine, Vienna General Hospital and then at the Centre for Public Health, where he was the first to finish a residency training in Public Health in Austria.
Since 2020 he leads the Community Health Lab, an interdisciplinary team of young researchers and practitioners focused on improving health justice and reducing inequalities in care, with a specific focus on cancer prevention and cancer care pathways. He is the coordinator and principal investigator of the H2020 financed project "CANCERLESS: Cancer prevention and early detection among the homeless population in Europe: co-adapting and implementing the Health Navigator Model", and Horizon Europe financed project "CO-CAPTAIN: Cancer preveniton among individuals with mental ill health: co-adapting and implementing patient navigation for primary cancer prevention".
He is also leading the evaluation workpackage in INTERACT EUROPE 100. Igor is passionate about participatory research and bringing patients and lived experience experts in research and policy as well as training of medical students and other younger cancer care and health care experts.
