Janne is the head of Screening, Symptoms & Vaccination team in the department of Prevention & Information in the Danish Cancer Society. Within the ongoing work on preventable lifestyle factors, the early detection project covers screening and early signs (symptoms) of cancer. Janne is also the contact person for the press and professionals who have questions or comments about cancer screening. Janne is a trained general surgeon and a certified breast surgeon and holds a PhD in epidemiology entitled ‘Waist circumference as a predictor for all-cause mortality’.

Janne is passionate about knowledge-sharing and interdisciplinary collaboration. Within the Danish Cancer Society, she is the initiator of a working group for colleagues interested in the screening programs which covers research, documentation, politics and prevention and which helps unite forces and strengthen knowledge for ongoing and future programs. Janne has also initiated the Danish Screening Meeting which bring together the research teams, screening organizers, health authorities and patients organizations from different ongoing screening programs (cervical, breast, colorectal cancer) for learning, sharing knowledge and networking. Janne is representing patients in an expert group advising the Health Authority about ongoing and future National Screening Programs. Janne is co-chair of a ECL subgroup cooperating across European countries with early detection and screening.
