Anja Mehnert-Theuerkauf

Anja Mehnert-Theuerkauf, PhD, is Professor and Chair of the Department of Medical Psychology and Medical Sociology at the University Medical Center, University of Leipzig, Germany. In 2005, she completed her PhD on posttraumatic stress disorder in breast cancer and worked at the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, NYC, as a postdoctoral research fellow (2007-2008). In 2010, she completed her Habilitation thesis at the University Hamburg as well as her training as a licenced psychological psychotherapist in 2013. She has published over 300 peer-reviewed papers, several books and holds editorial positions for journals such as Psycho-Oncology, Journal of Cancer Survivorship and Frontiers Psycho-Oncology. Her academic interests include studies of mental distress in cancer, cancer survivorship and psychotherapy trials for patients with cancer. Anja Mehnert-Theuerkauf was awarded the German Cancer Award in 2016 for her research achievements in psychooncology.
