Dr Anneza Yiallourou is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Cyprus Medical School and Academic Lead of the Breast Unit at Nicosia General Hospital. She graduated from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens Medical School and completed her residency in General Surgery at Aretaieion University Hospital. She was awarded her PhD with First Class Honours from the University of Athens, with a research focus on breast cancer and apoptotic pathways. She subsequently undertook advanced subspecialty training in breast surgical oncology at the Royal Free Hospital Breast Unit (University College London, UK), where she further developed expertise in modern breast cancer surgical techniques. In 2026, she completed the Surgical Leadership Programme at Harvard Medical School. Dr Yiallourou holds multiple international certifications, including Fellow of the European Board of Surgery in Breast, European Certification in Breast Surgical Oncology, and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Her academic output includes over 70 peer-reviewed publications and numerous presentations at international conferences. Dr Yiallourou leads and contributes to national and European cancer research initiatives, with a focus on breast cancer, screening, quality assurance, and patient-reported outcomes. Her work—aligned with EU4Health priorities—emphasises the implementation of evidence-based screening programmes, quality management systems, and patient-centred care across multidisciplinary and international collaborations.
