Loucas Fourlas has been a Member of the European Parliament since 2019, representing Cyprus and the European People's Party (EPP). Before entering politics, he worked for 23 years as a journalist, political editor and television presenter. He studied Economics and Political Sciences at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and later specialised in Research Journalism and International Crisis Coverage in the United States. A leading advocate for cancer patients in Europe, he served as President of the European Parliament’s Special Committee on Beating Cancer (BECA) and currently serves as Vice-Chair of the European Parliament Intergroup on Cancer and Rare Diseases. In the European Parliament, he is a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET) and a substitute member of the Committees on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE), Culture and Education (CULT), Employment and Social Affairs (EMPL), and Women's Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM). He is also the founder of “Little Heroes”, a charitable organisation supporting children with cancer.
