
Thorsten Ecke, MD, is Professor of Urology at the Department of Urology, Charité University Hospital Berlin, Germany since 2023. Since 2005, he is working as clinical urologist specializing in bladder cancer at Helios Hospital Bad Saarow, Germany. His main research interests include urine-based diagnostic for bladder cancer, imaging, risk stratification.
As member of EAU Policy Group he is topic leader for bladder cancer. Since 2025, he is working for BCLEAR (Bladder Cancer Literacy for All), project co-founder under EU4health, that aims to improve health literacy on bladder cancer to reduce incidence and mortality.
Since 2014, he is board member of Interdisciplinary Bladder Cancer Working Group (IABC) at the German Cancer Society (DKG). He is actively involved in clinical bladder cancer research, with more than 140 peer-reviewed publications. In 2026 he was honored as Platinum Reviewer for European Urology. He is principal investigator of the Bladder Cancer Registry Trial “BladderBRIDGister”, and his special research interests are the development of new risk-adapted screening programs and therapies for bladder cancer. Since 2021 he is member of Urological Research Group at the German Urological Society (DGU) and president of its symposium in 2026.
