Executive Director, CML Advocates Network

Denis Costello is Executive Director of CML Advocates Network. The CML Advocates Network is an active network specifically for leaders of Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML) patient groups, connecting 128 patient organisations in 93 countries on all continents. It was set-up and is run by CML patients and carers. Its aim is to facilitate and support best practice sharing among patient advocates across the world.

Prior experience includes working with EURORDIS (Rare Diseases Europe) where he led the launch and operation of RareConnect a multilingual social network for patients and families living with rare diseases www.rareconnect.org, While at EURORDIS he also launched the organisation’s Digital Academy to build the capacities of patient organisations in the use of digital communication tools. Denis was also part of the team that oversees the online awareness campaign around Rare Disease Day (last day of February) www.rarediseaseday.org He is a regular speaker at international conferences, having being invited to speak at international conferences (European Hematology Association, ECCO, European Conference on Rare Diseases, DIA, EFGCP).
