Winette van der Graaf is Head of Department of Medical Oncology at the Netherlands Cancer Institute (NCI) Amsterdam and Professor of Medical Oncology at ErasmusMC Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Her research is focused on adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancer and sarcomas. In 2009 she initiated the first AYA clinic in the Netherlands at Radboudumc Nijmegen and years later extended it to the Dutch AYA ‘Young and Cancer’ network of which she is the active chair.
From 2015-2018 she was Teamleader Sarcoma Research at The Institute of Cancer Research, London, UK, and consultant in the sarcoma unit of The Royal Marsden Hospital. In 2018 she was appointed at the NCI.
Together with dr. Olga Husson she is PI of the KWF funded Dutch national COMPRAYA infrastructure and PI of the EU project STRONG AYA. Since 2022 she is president of the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) and she is a board member of the European Cancer organisation.
