Francesco Pignatti graduated as Medical Doctor. In 1995 he became Research Fellow at the EORTC Data Center in Brussels, Belgium. In 1997 he obtained a Master of Science degree in Biostatistics from the University of Limburg, Belgium. In 1999 he joined the European Medicines Agency (EMA). From 2009 to 2023, he held the position of Head of the Office of Oncology, Haematology and Diagnostics in the Human Medicines Evaluation Division. In 2023 he has been appointed as the EMA Scientific Adviser for oncology. His main regulatory science interests include cancer drug regulation, benefit-risk analysis, and stated preference studies.
