Gilliosa Spurrier, trained as a Geologist and in Environmental Evaluation, became involved in Patient Advocacy when her husband became a stage 4 melanoma patient.

As Founder and president of MelanomeFrance, she is involved in French HTA for Drug Evaluations, runs several >1300-member Patient Forums (French and English language), reviews cancer research projects. As a Core member of MPNE, organizes European patient and stakeholder Conferences, contributed to ASCO Melanoma Treatment Guidelines, the ESMO Patient Guide to Immuno-Oncology Adverse Events, several research projects with Industry and other stakeholders. As part of the MPNE core team she partners in 3 Horizon2020/EUROPE Projects.

In 2020, she was responsible for the organisation of the first WECAN SCIENCE Event for Cancer advocates. She was WECAN chair from 2020 until 2021 and is currently a Board Member. She is also Co-chair of the European Cancer Organization Patient Advisory Board and Summit Co-Chair.
