During a 20-year career in the pharmaceutical and medtech industry, in roles spanning R&D, product management, and P&L management, Ben Newton has led numerous drug, diagnostic and prognostic products from conception to commercialisation. He has been at the forefront of MedTech leadership, heading innovative and entrepreneurial businesses at GE Healthcare in areas such as Ultrasound, Molecular Imaging, Digital and now Oncology Solutions.
GE HealthCare is a $18 billion business that provides a broad portfolio of products, solutions, software, and services used in the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of patients. As Global Head of Oncology at GE Healthcare, Ben is focused on enabling doctors to diagnose and treat cancer earlier, providing integrated care solutions, theranostic, precision therapy guidance technology and Ai-powered clinical decision support software. GE Healthcare’s technology is used along the patient’s journey from screening, diagnosis and staging of the cancer, through treatment planning, monitoring and follow-up.
Prior to taking leadership of GE’s new Oncology Solutions business, Ben was Chief Digital Officer of GE Healthcare’s Life Science business. Prior to that, he held global GM positions in Molecular Imaging, PET, Ultrasound and R&D. He has worked on discovering and developing novel imaging agents, AI tools and software for the diagnosis, imaging and treatment of fibrosis, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Epilepsy, cardiovascular disease and cancer; successfully completed several CT, MR, Ultrasound and Positron Emission Tomography (PET) product development programs and led over twenty-five product launches globally.
