Professor of Aging and Palliative Care, VUB-UGhent End-of-Life Care Research Group, VUB, Brussels, and coordinator of EU NAVIGATE
Lieve Van den Block is Full Professor and founding chair of the Ageing and Palliative Care Research Programme at the End-of-Life Care Research Group of the VUB and Ghent University in Belgium.
She holds a PhD in Medical Social Sciences and a Master's in Clinical Psychology. Lieve has been involved in palliative care and end-of-life research for over 20 years, specifically focusing on care and support for older people with serious illnesses and their family carers.
She has performed national and international public health and interventional research aimed at monitoring and improving palliative and end-of-life care, among different populations including cancer, dementia and frailty. She is coordinator of Horizon Europe EU NAVIGATE project.
