Jan Geissler is Founder and CEO of Patvocates, a social consultancy and think-and-do tank focused on patient engagement across all disease areas, and Managing Director of the European Patient Advocacy Institute. He is the former Director of the European Patients’ Academy (EUPATI).

A leukaemia patient since 2001, Jan has co-founded several patient advocacy organisations, including LeukaNET, the European Cancer Patient Coalition (ECPC), the CML Advocates Network, the Acute Leukemia Advocates Network, and WECAN, the network of pan-European cancer patient organisations.

He serves as a trustee of the Leukemia Patient Advocates Foundation, participates in multiple EU/IHI-funded projects, and represents patients on numerous advisory boards and committees, including those of the European Cancer Organisation (ECO), the European Hematology Association (EHA), and Germany’s National Decade Against Cancer initiative. He was also a member of the Ethics Committee of the Bavarian Chamber of Physicians from 2022 until 2026.

In 2026, he was awarded the Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for his contributions to patient engagement.
