Janelle Yorke

Prof.  Janelle Yorke, is Chair Professor of Nursing and Head of the School of Nursing, at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She was awarded the Hong Kong SAR Global STEM Professorship, the only nurse recipient, in 2024. Prior to her relocation to Hong Kong, she was the inaugural Professor of Cancer Nursing, a joint position between the University of Manchester and Christie NHS Foundation Trust, UK. She was a NIHR Senior Investigator in recognition of her clinical research and support to develop clinical-academic careers in nursing.

Janelle’s research includes the development and evaluation of complex interventions to support patients to self-manage distressing symptoms including dyspnoea, cough and fatigue. She has expertise in the development and clinical-implementation of electronic-Patient Reported Outcome Measures (ePROMs). She was Chair (2018- Dec 2023) of the Christie ePROM implementation into routine clinical care. The Christie ePROM progamme now includes more than 80,000 patients with over 100,000 ePROM returns.
