Dr Marilys Corbex is the team lead for cancer control at the WHO regional office for Europe. She is a dual French and Belgian national with 25 years of international experience in cancer epidemiology and control. She graduated from the French “Ecole Normale Superieure” in 1994 and received her PhD in Epidemiology and Public Health at age 25. She is a public health expert with extensive academic experience (she published more than 50 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals), as well as field experience, notably in Eastern Europe, Asia and North Africa. She has been working for WHO for more than 16 years, as a scientist at the International Agency for Research on Cancer and as a technical officer at WHO headquarters and at regional offices for the Eastern Mediterranean region and Europe region.
