The Quality of Life Adolescents and Young Adults Cluster – QoL (AYA) Cluster - is a collaboration of Horizon Europe projects that work to improve the quality of life of adolescents and young adults (AYAs) living with and beyond cancer.
The cluster brings together complementary research and innovation initiatives that address the long-term consequences of cancer and its treatment. Although survival rates for young people with cancer are improving, many experience significant late effects that impact their physical health, mental well-being, education, employment, and social participation. This is achieved through the activities being carried out by its three working groups:
The QoL (AYA) Cluster contributes to a more coordinated European response to these challenges by advancing evidence-based survivorship care, digital health solutions, predictive approaches, and harmonised care pathways.
In line with the goals of the EU Mission on Cancer and Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan, the cluster promotes the development of patient-centred, equitable, and sustainable models for long-term cancer care throughout Europe.

Why this collaboration matters
By working together, the Cluster aims to enhance knowledge exchange, align communication efforts, and maximise the impact of Horizon Europe investment in cancer survivorship.
Through joint dissemination activities, including shared materials and coordinated outreach, the cluster raises awareness of the challenges faced by AYA survivors and encourages engagement with patients, healthcare professionals, policymakers, and research stakeholders across Europe.
