Assoc. Professor Dr Sona Ciernikova is a senior cancer researcher and Secretary of the Scientific Council at the National Oncology Institute, who closely collaborates with the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic on the National Oncology Program. She coordinates and co-coordinates several EU projects and joint actions at the national level (CraNE-JA / EUnetCCC-JA, CCI4EU, EChoS), all aimed at improving cancer care and reducing inequalities across Europe through Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan and the EU Mission on Cancer. As a long-time member of the Board of Trustees of the Slovak Cancer Research Foundation, she raises awareness about cancer prevention among young people and currently dedicates significant effort to meaningful patient involvement and empowerment in cancer research and care.
