Tamar is UNFPA SRHR Regional Advisor for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, leading the SRHR portfolio at the EECARO and providing technical and programme support to 17 countries and territories in the region. In 2021, she initiated the EECA Regional Alliance for Cervical Cancer Prevention in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, which is the official partner of the ECO.

Tamar initiated and led the implementation of the UNFPA programme for Cervical screening in Georgia during 2006-2013, the flagship programme of UNFPA and the government of Georgia, awarded with Pearl of Wisdom by European Parliament in 2009. She was a co-chair of the Black Sea coalition for breast and cervical cancer prevention during 2009-2015.

Tamar is a medical Doctor, (Ob/Gyn), holding PhD in RH; she has more than 30 years of clinical, advisory and managerial experience in the field of SRH; she has worked for UNFPA for more than 25 years, leading the SRHR programmes at the national and international levels.
