Online Course: HPV Vaccines - From Prevention to Confidence Building

The primary goal of the PROTECT-EUROPE project is to increase vaccination rates against the human papillomavirus (HPV) by expanding gender-neutral vaccination across Europe – a cornerstone of Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan.

To that end, an online training course for healthcare professionals entitled 'HPV Vaccines - From Prevention to Confidence Building' has been developed with support from the Catalan Institute of Oncology.

This 20-hour course, self-paced and free of charge, provides essential facts and figures about HPV to healthcare professionals through the following modules:

  • Module 1: HPV and related diseases (3hs)

  • Module 2: HPV vaccines: an overview (3hs)

  • Module 3: Prevention of cervical cancer (3hs)

  • Module 4: Prevention of other HPV-related diseases (3hs)

  • Module 5: Single-dose schedule and special populations (1.5hs)

  • Module 6: HPV vaccine safety (3hs)

  • Module 7: How can a healthcare worker promote and sustain vaccine confidence (3hs)

This training is offered in two formats:

  • An online training course: Designed primarily for healthcare professionals who want to enhance their knowledge of HPV and how to discuss it, although the course is suitable for others working in cancer care.
  • A Train-the-Trainer programme (TTT): Designed primarily for public institutions willing to use our educational materials (with or without prior adaptation) to conduct their own training at a local level. It includes an additional 1.5-hour module centred on training skills necessary for students to become suitable trainers.

Both online formats start on 2 September 2024 and can be completed within a 9 or 10 week period.
